Mandela, the father of our nation, lived to make this country a better place for all of us. He may no longer be standing at the helm, but we have the ability to keep his legacy alive. That’s why, inspired by Lisa Dannatt, one of our lovely MMP mammas, we’ve partnered with Nanny ‘n Me to do a Baby Care Collection for Mandela Day this year.
On the 18th of July, Mandela’s birthday, we’ll be delivering Care Packs to Little Brinks, a small charity with a big vision – to ‘ensure each and every child and baby, has a warm place of safety, food and clothing.’
Little Brinks was started by Cape Town’s very own Katherine Brink in 2008 when she took her daughter to meet her biological mother in Elsie’s River. “There were so many kids sitting there in dirty, torn clothes, hungry and bored waiting with elderly grandmothers for food parcels and social workers to help them, that I just knew that I needed to help.” Says Kath.
Little Brinks operates wherever Cape Town’s needy are, but spend most of their time in Elsie’s River, Atlantis, Dunoon, Strandfontein, Southfield and Wynberg,
If you’re not a part of Nanny ‘n Me and would like to donate, you can find the class nearest you here or email Lara for more details.
Items of Care could include: Clothes your little one’s grown out of * bottles you’re no longer using * wipes * nappies * food * blankets* bum cream * hand sanitizer * toys your baba’s lost interest in * formula * dummies * vouchers
Mandela once said, “Sometimes it falls upon a generation to be great,” we can be that generation.
